Weird theory about Iraq and WMD

Why was the United States so sure that Saddam had WMD and was hiding it?

One of the least spread theories out there is the following:

When the United States was supporting Saddam on war with Iran, US did supply Iraqi’s army with training and weapons (chemical as well).

And when Saddam decided to attack Kuwait without US approval that is when the relationship between Saddam and US government went down the drain.

That is it, just a quick simple thought.

The reason why this could’ve happened is because of the US history. US did supply Shah with everything including Nuclear power plants.

But with the Iranian revolution, the new regime destroyed every “made of america” single thing.

And talking about Saddam, that is when he decided to attack Iran…
